#10: Revlon
One of the first liquid foundations that I’ve ever tried, Revlon’s infamous ColorStay foundation always had the right shade for me when I was extremely pale in the winter, and when I was tan in the summer. Coming in at under $10 for a bottle, this medium to full coverage long wear foundation is still a favorite after decades since the launch.
ColorStay shade range: 22 shades for the oily/combo formula and 13 shades for normal/dry skin.
#9: Urban Decay
With 25 different shades in the range, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation boasts a nearly 4.5 star rating on Sephora.com. This foundation is designed for combo skin and leaves a matte finish. There are added anti-aging benefits in this formula with green tea and anti-wrinkle peptide called Matrixyl 3000. The price for this foundation is $40. Sounds fancy!

#8 NARS
I think we’ve all tried a NARS foundation in our lifetime, amirite? My NARS foundation clients were usually pretty loyal to the brand, especially fans of the Sheer Glow foundation. Now, NARS has a long wear formula, Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, in 33 shades of beautiful. I’ve tried this foundation personally, and I love the full coverage formula–it looks so flawless! Made for all skin types, you will love the radiant finish with minimal need for touchups. For $49 per bottle, the quality justifies the price. Stop by your nearest NARS booth to try out your own sample.

#7 Estee Lauder
What was once a curious swipe on my wrist to find my shade of Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation, turned into almost 20 years of wearing this product. Double Wear is still on my best foundation list and always looks flawless and radiant–even on the hottest of days! This is the summer festival foundation. I found my exact shade by visiting the counter where they had a tool that took several photos of my skin and my perfect shade was revealed.
Estee Lauder Double Wear: 42 shades. The product says it is matte, but I feel that it is a semi-matte that is not drying.
#6 BareMinerals
It is no surprise that this brand is on the list! I used to be a huge BM customer and purchased several shades of their Original Foundation to mix depending on the time of year. This mineral product is still hugely popular since its launch in 1995, this versatile powder is still an everyday staple in millions of makeup bags. Both the Original and Matte formulas have 30 shades of color, with the matte formula being suitable for combo and oily skin. At $29 each jar, this product will continue to evolve and thrive among top-selling foundations globally.

#5 L’Oreal
Drugstore giant L’Oreal is famous for its Infallible line of foundation–who doesn’t want their makeup to stay on all day? But where the brand really shines is with their True Match foundation collection. Out of their 33 shades, at least 16 of those are in the deeper skin tone range. This foundation leaves a satin finish and contains vitamins A and C with grapefruit extract to boot! There are a lot of shades to choose from, and when you’re browsing at the drugstore or online, it may be difficult to find the perfect match. Make sure the store you purchase from has a good return policy!
L’Oreal True Match: 33 shades with no oils or fragrances added.
#4 CoverGirl
CoverGirl just launched its most inclusive foundation collection ever. With 40 shades in the new collection, this will certainly become a big drugstore favorite. Medium to full coverage is what this product claims, and the finish is matte. Needless to say, I’m excited to try this myself being a full coverage matte foundation wearer. I also want to point out that CoverGirl also launched a new foundation in their Queen collection, 3-in-1 Flawless Foundation, which is only available in tan and deep skin tones.
CoverGirl Trublend Matte: 40 shades of fabulous!
#3 Maybelline
Drugstore favorite brand Maybelline has a whopping 12 different foundations to choose from. From anti-aging formulas to even a Korean-inspired cushion compact, Maybelline is definitely a player in the foundation game. Last year, Maybelline added 16 more shades to their Fit Me! Matte + Poreless foundation collection, making it 40 shades for this line!

#2 FENTY Beauty
No surprise here–FENTY Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Foundation shook social media with the launch of 40 foundation shades in September 2017. Another awesome moment in FENTY Beauty’s history was when actor Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) appeared on the Oscar red carpet wearing the foundation. His glow was felt around the globe! The success of the foundation range caused other beauty brands to get in gear and expand their own shade ranges.

#1 MAC Cosmetics
FENTY Beauty is not the first brand to boast 40 shades of foundation. MAC Cosmetics has been the leader in inclusive foundation shades for decades, and our app users voted this brand #1! MAC’s Studio Fix powder includes 53 shades, but the formula isn’t made for everyone. Although full coverage, MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid, with 42 shades, can definitely be applied lightly with a slightly damp sponge for a natural finish.
MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid – 42 shades of wow! Has a matte finish, but doesn’t look dry or cakey.
