Spring 2018 is just around the corner, which means it’s time to revamp your look with new makeup trends! If we’re talking about beauty trends, we like to look to the runways to see what’s in for the spring trend report.
From clumpy, Twiggy-inspired lashes to ultra-glossy lips, the NYFW showcased a variety of unforgettable beauty looks. Since we can’t share (or wear) them all, let’s get into the seven top trends you have to try this year!
We can all thank Bad Gal RiRi for really starting off this trend of golden glimmering highlight. After models rocked her Killawatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife on the Rihanna’s Fenty X Puma runway, we started seeing tons of beauty bloggers and celebs wearing the highlight too.
Although this yellow-gold hue highlighter is far from subtle, it’s extremely versatile. So you can either dust it over your cheeks, use it as eyeshadow or for spot strobing.
The inner corner of your eyes is one place where you can easily make a statement and brighten them with just a small amount of pigment. You definitely play up this area with shimmering shadows in champagne or rose gold. You can also opt to wear brighter shades like orange, pink or aqua blue. Just use your ring finger to gently apply the shadow to your tear duct and finish with mascara.
Seen practically everywhere in last year, metallic lipsticks in any and all shades are still a must in 2018. You can try this trend out by just wearing a clear lips gloss with holographic shimmer over ruby red lipstick for a high shine finish. Or you can go full on and wear a glittery or frosted lipstick in an unexpected metallic shade.
Bold, Bright Colored Eyes
Spring makeup wouldn’t be complete without a pop of color! This year the colors of choice on the runways ranged from mermaid-esque green to striking yellow on the eyes. You can try this look out by using a combination of eyeshadow and liner or go for a simple look by only lining your lower lash line.
Let’s be honest, glitter makes everything better! When it comes to wearing glitter like this season’s trend you can apply a sheer sparkling layer on lids. Or copy the look seen at Anna Sui and draw vertical lines down your eye for a glittery statement.
The Well Rounded Cat-Eye
The sleek cat-eye has a whole new look in 2018! Rather than being extra sharp, the wings spotted on at Jason Wu and Tom Ford were still dramatic but were finished with rounded edges. You can replicate this new cat-eye look by tracing the outline of the wings first and then fill it in.
Before it became the officially the color of the year, Ultra Violet it was all over the runways of Area and Alexander Wang. Bring this color into your makeup routine with a rich creamy lipstick or blush.
