Imagine yourself swimming in all of the fall metallics of the season, emerging like a mermaid into a pile of crisp leaves while you grab a pumpkin spice latte…ok, that was a little dramatic, but that is how we are feeling about fall right about now. Seeing the fall makeup lineup at our favorite stores makes us get crazy eyes and frightened wallets. Thankfully there are some brands that are making it easy for us thrifty girls get some metallic action happening on our faces. Stick with me here while I take you through my five favorite looks for fall 2017.

The beauty world collectively screamed when images and swatches emerged of Rihanna’s new beauty line Fenty. At the office, we had our own Fenty Killowatt Freestyle Highlighter and we also were super impressed with the quality of shimmer and just pure awesomeness.
The coolest thing is you can pretty much put this baby anywhere on your body and it will rock your world. $34 is not too bad for 8 grams of product!
Pair this highlighter with a sheer gloss on the lips and dab a little bit of the highlighter on top to dazzle it up. I’d probably go for a little dark brown gel liner on the top lash line and one coat of the new IT Cosmetics Superhero mascara for added drama.
Balmain’s NYFW F/W 2017 show had it going on. This MAC Cosmetics makeup looks like it will take a little bit of extra elbow grease, but well worth the time spent.
I’m all about blown-out smokey eyes, especially with a pop of metallic on the center of the lid. This hot look features a charcoal smudgy black blended shadow (MAC Carbon $16) all the way around the eye with a gorgeous copper metallic color (MAC Copper Pigment $22) popped on the center of the lid. The coolest part of this look is the winged line using negative space.
If I were to recreate this on myself, I’d probably dip a cotton Q-Tip in some makeup remover, removing excess product on a tissue, and take away the black shadow in a line, starting from the outer edge and work my way in. Then, I’d fill in the line with a soft application of concealer or a powder shadow.
There are so many cool things you can do with negative space, so get those Q-Tips out and get creative!
I love peach everything–peach lip gloss, peach eyeshadow, peach cobbler. Bring it. When I saw the NYFW F/W 2017 look for Blugirl, I was screaming. I am digging this minimalistic eye look with a glossy peach lid that pops (makes baby blues really stand out, also brings out gold tones in brown eyes) and carrying the same shade to the nails is so pretty.
When I’m in the peachy mood, I grab my Etude House Play Color Eyes eyeshadow palette in Juice Bar ($20) which has a lot of peach and earthy tones to play with. To match my nails, I love Essie’s Tart Deco ($9) for all of my peachy-orange flavorings.
Since the lips look extremely light (look closely), I’d go for a light wash of color using a sheer, creamy gloss like the KKW Creme Liquid Lipstick in Kimberly ($45 for set of 4).
As for the long separated lashes to finish off the look, I’d opt for my latest favorite, the It Cosmetics Superhero Lash Mascara ($24) which gives me ridiculous length and volume.
MONO MY MONDAY
We’ve definitely seen a batch of monochromatic makeup looks popping up lately all over blogs and runways–and I can see why this is effective. The look will make Monday much easier for some of us: Just take a cute metallic shade, like this burgundy pink as shown on Olivia Wilde, and apply similar shades it to eyes, cheeks, and lips. No four-color eyeshadow cut crease, no ‘blend til you die’ techniques required.

No four-color eyeshadow cut crease, no ‘blend till you die’ techniques. Just apply one vibrant color all the way around the eye and add some eyeliner if you must.
I just love the simplicity with a high impact.
If you want to experiment with vibrant colors for fall, I suggest playing with this $10 Coastal Scents Think Pink Eyeshadow palette. I also like this other Coastal Scents palette in Winterberry because it looks like a heap of fun with purples and reddish-pink tones. Plus, it costs next to nothing!
I will never give up my signature cat eyeliner. Never. I plan on playing checkers at the old folks home wearing my Wet N Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner when I’m 99 years old. I will probably own more cats than pieces of makeup, but I will wear my liquid liner to the grave.
As expected, I was thrilled to see runway models Gigi and Bella Hadid sporting severe graphic eyeliner looks, and this fierce look on Debi Mazar (right) is giving me life. I love doing a bold graphic liner look with a matte black liquid liner, and nothing else but a little wisp of mascara on the bottom lashes and a hefty serving of it on the top lashes. Brows on-point are a must.
For lips, I think you can do just about anything. I’ve tried it with dark vampy lips and I’ve tried it with light nude lips and it all worked. Hoping this look is here to stay.
