It’s an exciting time to be alive in the beauty industry! Green Beauty is on the rise with celebrities like Emma Watson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Shailene Woodley, and Jessica Alba promoting and creating their own businesses around healthy beauty products. In my seven years of being a makeup artist, and four to five years of that being eco-friendly and cruelty-free, I’ve seen a rise in the number of skincare and makeup products that are available to the masses and in more accessible places such as health food stores, Walgreens, and even Target. Here are some of my favorite products that I used both on myself and on my clients to promote and maintain healthy looking skin which is always the basis for beautiful makeup application. Hope you enjoy learning about these products as I do sharing them with you!

Ellovi Butter in Mint Chocolate
Ellovi is a Bay Area eco-beauty brand that is one that I discovered about three or four years ago, just after becoming eco-friendly and cruelty-free. Their line was originally based on one simple unscented formula and has recently expanded to include delicious scents such as this one in Mint Chocolate. Mint and chocolate are two of my favorite fragrances and flavors, both individually and combined. I have used this balm for lip balm and as a body moisturizer as well as a wound healer. I have shared this with friends of mine who have had scrapes, and not only did it help them recover faster but their skin look much healthier and softer to the touch afterward.
100 Percent Pure Blood Orange Body Scrub
Years ago, before becoming a makeup artist, I had discovered 100 Percent Pure before going green for my personal skincare use. I love using the Blood Orange Body Scrub because I have eczema and this was a super gentle on my skin. I had even heard from other customers that they would use the body scrub and eat little tablespoons of it during their baths because it just smells so delicious! The ingredients are USDA certified organic and food-grade safe. I have also attempted to sample this product internally, and it really is quite delicious. But of course, since it’s for cosmetic use, I just try to use it for its intended topical purpose so that I don’t using it up too quickly. And from a makeup artist standpoint, this is scrub also makes for a really great lip scrub that is super delicious and effective at removing dead skin cells.
100 Percent Pure Lip & Cheek Tint Shimmery Strawberry
Here’s another favorite product from 100% Pure Cosmetics because they also have a great makeup line. I really like the Lip & Cheek Tint in Shimmery Strawberry because the formula is super conditioning with ingredients like avocado butter, and the color pigmentation is also very vibrant. It’s blendable, and this particular color works well for tan skin tones, too. But also it makes for a great tinted lip balm. This product provides refreshing color for the upcoming spring and summer seasons!
RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up Concealer
And last but not least, is a wonderful creamy concealer by RMS Beauty. I respect this brand because it is created by a makeup artist to prevent other women from developing breast cancer from accumulating too many chemical substances from their cosmetics. I’m happy that they have expanded this particular product to go from 00 (fair) to 55 (medium to tan) which will take care of most warm or yellow toned beauty to a slightly deeper tan color. I love that all the ingredients are organic and that there’s some SPF protection for the eye area which is a very delicate part of the face. I have never had any issues or irritations from using this organic beauty line myself or on my clients, and I also highly recommend looking at all of their other dreamy, creamy products for the eyes and face.
Hope that learning about all of these eco-beautiful products has sparked your interest in exploring more in the world of green beauty. There continues to be a lot of interest and growth in this industry, and I look forward to hopefully one day Green Beauty being the new standard in beauty! To a healthier, more beautiful future!
