The blonde duo David and Phillipe Blond brought the word “fierce” to NYFW, and we are living for every single piece in the collection. If there is a big walk-in closet in heaven where you get to choose an outfit to wear for eternity, let’s hope something from The Blonds is in there dripping with pearls and rhinestones.
Let’s get down to it. We walked into the gallery, the room was dark with splashes of jagged light. The haunting pre-show soundtrack was apparently from the NBC Universal movie The Mummy, out this summer, and it set the mood for what was yet to come. The influence for the designs of this show was indeed for The Mummy, basing it on a “story of an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her and who is awakened in our current day.”
After a large billowing cloud of smoke had filled the room, the music began, and the models started to take the runway.
If you recognize some of these designs, don’t worry, it’s not just your imagination getting the best of you. The Blonds have clients that include Madonna, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, and, much more.
We filmed the entire show, so sit back and enjoy the highlights below:
The stunning and dramatic makeup look was created by Kabuki Magic and the MAC Pro Team. The lovely swirling marcel updo was created by Kien Hoang using Oribe hair products. We teamed up with The Blonds to digitize Kabuki’s look for the Perfect365 app. Download Perfect365 or launch the app, go to our home screen and find the banner that features the look you see below. Then, simply tap to try it!
We are leaving NYC tomorrow, and we miss it already! We hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage of NYFW!
